Brzovic For School Board

Information about Tania Brzovic's campaign for School Trustee in Nanaimo-Ladysmith, School District 68.

Who I am

My name is Tania Brzovic and I am a life-long Nanaimoite. I have been a school trustee since 2014.

I was born with Spina Bifida, and thanks to the help of my family, our friends, and other support networks too numerous to list, I have achieved many things that once seemed impossible. As a student in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith district, I attended Princess Anne, Rutherford, Wellington Junior Secondary School and Nanaimo District Senior Secondary school. I was one of the first special needs students to benefit from integration, and I was part of the last graduating class of NDSS when it was still a senior high school.  I have always followed the workings of the District closely, as part of my continued efforts to provide advocacy and support for parents and children work within the school system.

I was raised in a family of teachers, where I was taught from an early age that a healthy public system is the cornerstone of a strong community. Prior to my first run for school board, I worked as an advocate for persons with disabilities/their families. I have also served as a volunteer for a variety of not-for-profit social service agencies. These experiences provided me with the background I needed to grasp the governance function of our school board, including effective oversight, policy development, strategic planning, and fiscal responsibility.
